Looking at the pictures I saw of Colmar, you could probably forgive me for thinking the Colmar is just a small town outside Strasbourg. However, in fact, it is a full fledged city. I was a bit surprised by this when I stepped out of the train station and I saw that this was no medieval village but a full fledged city. I surmised that it is probably much like Strasbourg which has its medieval quarter still intact. Now, I just have to find it. I think I have a fairly good idea of which general direction it would be but I would just like to have a look around town.
The train station apparently obviously in the middle of city but the city much less busy that a Strasbourg would be. The buildings along the way are very elegant but they are not the medieval buildings which I was hoping to see here. There is a large park in the area Parc du Champ de Mars and there was a old fashioned carousel here. It didn’t seem to be open at that time but I would have liked to see it working. Most of the carousel I have seen are all the modern ones and it would have been nice to see an old fashioned one.
