It should be obvious by now that this area of the modern city of Nancy used to be the center of activity or at least the center of power. This area was all ordered constructed by Stanislaus the exiled former king of Poland offering these structure to his son-in-law King Louis XV. Whether is a true attempt to flatter the king or just a way to try to recapture the former splendor of his kingdom, Stanislaus did manage to make an impressive area. There are two major squares here right next to each other. They used to be surrounded by government buildings but these days it is a tourist attraction.

It is not just a square that makes Nancy a nice place to walk in but there is also a large park right next to Place de la Carrière and that is Parc de la Pépinière. This park is around four times the size of Place Stanislas. Like any decent park, there are numerous walking paths here. As you might expect, there are already a lot of people walking in the park for their daily walk. There are also statues here but I am not familiar with the figures. There is an old band stand which impressed me. I don’t know if it is still used as such but it seems to be well maintained.
