I made the mistake of requesting for mustard on my sausage bun. I always felt that the taste of mustard was too strong for me. Additionally, I was hoping that the mustard they have here isn’t the strong variety. I have tasted a type of mustard elsewhere that was very mild and it was perfect for sausages. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the one. I was reluctantly trying to finish the sausage bun only because I didn’t want to waste the money I paid for it. I think if I skipped the mustard then it would have been a much more pleasant experience. While I was eating the bun, I was pushing it down with some hot wine, a favorite staple during Christmas. It is also perfect for those cold December nights in Strasbourg.
After I managed to finish the bun, I started going around the Christmas market. There wasn’t just food being sold here, but I think that would be my primary reason for visiting Christmas markets. There are also stalls selling handicrafts here. There are true handmade stuff and not the mass produced ones from a factory. I think these types of products are slowly getting killed off by mass production but there is still that charm of anything that is hand made. Indeed, a mass produced item would be much cheaper because of economies of scale but it would be just like a million of other items that came out of that same factory. However, a hand made mini car, or a lamp that was made my hands by locals using local materials would have more value compared to one the mass produced ones.
