It was a happy coincidence that I happened to decide to go visit France in December. Yes, there was still a raging pandemic, but borders were open and I thought that as long as I keep my mask on at all time, I should be okay for the most part. I also recently got my booster shot, so hopefully I would be able to fend away most of the bad effects of the virus. In France, it is almost like there is no pandemic apart from the masks everyone is wearing. I think it is for this reason that it is thought that it is okay to have the Christmas market despite the pandemic.
I understand that we should not be hiding for the rest of our lives and I think that as long as you are vaccinated and your loved ones are vaccinated, then you should be good to go. That seems to be the thinking here in France. Strasbourg is famous for its Christmas markets. From my experience with Christmas markets else where, they tend to be just at one place. This is different for Strasbourg since they have multiple sites for Christmas markets. This is good because it will spread out all the people. It will also help to spread the wealth around as more shops would be able to operate. There is a Christmas market at the Place de la Cathedrale at Strasbourg which is the square where the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Strasbourg is. Despite the large number of people going, it wasn’t really that crowded. To enter this or any Christmas market in Strasbourg, you need to show you COVID pass and you are free to snack all you want.
