Petite France is probably the most well known attraction in Strasbourg. It is hard to argue with that with the medieval buildings all restored. It wasn’t just a single building that was restored but the entire district here is all restored. The makes for a very picturesque location. It was almost like the European villages you would see in books, except this is real. There are no longer used for their original purposes, in fact, more often than not, there would have uses in the tourism or hospitality sector these days. Who could blame them, won’t it be lovely to have dinner in such a lovely location?
It is hard to not notice how the river plays a large part in Petite France. Sure, back then, the river probably was the dumping area for industrial waste, but those days are long gone. These days, there are regular river ferries which take visitors around the area. I actually thought they were similar to the ones you would see in other river cities like Amsterdam. The river ferry here seems quite large compared to the size of the river itself. It is meant to carry tourists around. I agree that it seems to be an interesting and relaxing activity. Perhaps I should try it once I get rid of my baggage.
