I had a wonderful time in the city of Reims. It has been a while since I last went abroad and I thought this was a great way to restart it, pandemic or not. I only have a week to use for a holiday so I thought to use it to visit a relatively small geographic area. This area of France seems to be quite interesting so I thought to give it a try. What’s more is that connectivity between towns and cities is very good which makes visiting relatively stress free. I have enjoyed visiting the city of Reims and nearby Épernay so now, I will be leaving for another city. I will be heading to the eastern city of Strabourg, right on the border with Germany.
To get there, I need to get back to the main line which goes there. I took the regional train from Reims to Champagne-Ardenne. Then I took the connection trip to Strasbourg. The train to Strasbourg is a TGV train, which is France’s bullet train. It can travel at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour, shortening a potentially three hour drive by half. France has a network of these high speed lines and it makes traveling long distances much more comfortable. The train I took to Strasbourg came from Paris and by the time it got to Champagne-Ardenne, it was already full. Fortunately, seating is reserved so I got in my seat and quickly fell asleep.
