I was comfortable taking the train from Champagne-Ardenne to the eastern city of Strasbourg. This city is part of the main line which goes east of the country and it was also convenient to use as a base for the surrounding area. Additionally, there would be a direct line from Strasbourg to Paris when it is time to go back. The train to Strasbourg is a TGV which is a bullet train which goes extremely fast. Even if there was on board wifi, I didn’t really bother with is as I just slept most of the way through. There was little to see anyway since it was traveling across the French countryside. Things only started to get interesting as it was approaching Strasbourg.
Strasbourg is one of the biggest cities in this side of France. It is also a popular place to visit during December. I didn’t really know about Strasbourg until I found out about what it has during December, only then did it solidify my intent to visit France this time. Like a lot of train stations in France, the train station of Strasbourg, Gare de Strasbourg, is quite old. However, the French take real good care of their train stations because it looks to be very well maintained. It was almost like a mix of the old and the new, without the new overwhelming the old.
