The Hôtel de Ville d’Epernay is one of the first major landmarks that I visited in Épernay. The building functions as a city hall where administrative function of the local government are performed. I was surprised to know that it is actually a functioning building. I thought that it was only there for heritage purposes. Looking at the outside of the building, there are French flags on display, which gives you a hint that it is not abandoned. The building itself looks quite old but it has that elegant design that makes it blend in with the rest of the Avenue de Champagne.
The Hôtel de Ville d’Epernay has a nice little park which is a little getaway right in the middle of town. I don’t know how busy it really gets here but I have a difficult time imagining that there would massive traffic jams in Épernay. It appears to be a small and quiet town which just happens to be where all the world’s champagne is being produced. I haven’t seen enough of Épernay to know if this is really the case but unless is it harvest time for the grapes, I don’t see it being that busy. Nevertheless, for the people who are stressed out, there is a nice little park they can visit here.
