The Palace of Tau turned out to be something very familiar to me. I remember how I would walk down the halls of French museums and be bored of what I was seeing because I could not understand the French captions. I guess I could try to understand if but that would probably take me the entire day to finish even half of what is one display here. The tapestries and the paintings here are very similar to those I have seen in other French palaces. It seems to be a thing for royals to have large tapestries and paintings adorning their walls. It hasn’t gone to the extent that it would looks like French royal bedrooms which I have seen in Versailles but this is probably the next closest thing.
It is also worth noting here that the items on display here also have something to do with the coronation process. The Palace of Tau is where would-be kings would stay prior to their coronation next door at the cathedral. So, it is not surprising to see some items here. One of the things which stood out for me is an actual crown. This is a gold colors crown frame which is studded with shiny jewels or at least they appear to be precious jewels. I think this is the first time I have ever seen an actual crown and it was a big different from how I imagined it. I don’t know how the king would be balancing the crown on his head but I don’t think it would be easy for them to do so withouth some sort of strap. I never imagined a crown with a strap before but unless they have something sticky at the bottom of the crown, there will be no way for it to stay put.
