I inadvertently found myself in one the three UNESCO World Heritage sites of the city of Reims. I thought that I was heading to the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims but I ended up somewhere else with an entrance fee. Anyway, the Palace of Tau is where the archbishop of Reims stays. It is right beside the Cathedral of Notre Dam de Reims that prospective kings will be staying here prior to their coronation next door. As you can see, the Palace of Tau is tied to the history for France itself. I purchased a ticket for the museum hoping that I would be able to understand this history a little more.
Unfortunately, a lot of the captions here are all in French, leaving me guessing as to what I’m actually seeing. One of the most prominent locations here is the Hall of the Tau, which as the name implies, is a hall in the palace. On display here are several large tapestries which are commonly used back then. In those times, the clergy was treated a lot like royalty so they also have a lot of these furnishings which I have seen in other actual French royal palaces. In particular, the use of tapestries. These tapestries usually depict something from history or from the Bible. Again, I don’t know enough to understand what the tapestry showed me. I realized that my enthusiasm for this place quickly waned and I just going through the motions to get out of there.
