Christmas Market at the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims

I wasn’t expecting that I would be going to a Christmas market so soon. I was hoping to leave the Christmas market for last since I think it would work well for dinner. Unfortunately, the Christmas market was between me and my destination and I had to go through the market to get there. It was already late afternoon and people were already starting to pack the place. I think that the square is a little to small for the Christmas Market but having a famous UNESCO World Heritage site as the backdrop of your Christmas market is also quite appealing. I don’t really like the idea of turning the cathedral grounds into a marketplace but from a tourism point of view, it works.

This would be my first time in a Christmas Market outside of Ireland. I have been to one in Galway and the one in Belfast. I have no idea of how the markets are here in France but I thought that they were very similar to the ones I have since in Ireland. They have these wooden cottages which serve as the shops. From the looks of it, the shops here sell a lot of the same food, apart from the clearly local food but there are the standard ones like churros, waffles, sausages and sandwiches. I think I will use this as an opportunity to figure out what to get for dinner later. It seems that people also have the same idea as there were a lot of people already looking for stuff to eat.
