After managing to clear the massive queue at immigration at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, I finally got a bit of rest from all that traveling when I got on the train to Reims. Although, I had to transfer trains halfway, I still managed to a relax a bit. This is even more so when I got on the train from Champagne-Ardenne to Reims. The train was almost empty so I could have even laid down on the seats and slept if I wanted to. But it was relaxing and at the same time exciting to be finally heading towards Reims. It will be my base for the next couple of days so I don’t get that tired from moving around that often. The train actually has a few stops along the way so I can’t really fall asleep just yet. There is also an onboard announcement to let you know the next stops so you won’t get lost.
I was very happy to finally see a large city emerge from the beautiful countryside. Reims is the largest city of the Champagne wine growing region. It thus makes a good base for exploring the surrounding area. As you might expect, the Reims train station is also a landmark here. It is a major transport hub in the city as a lot of the buses would make this part of their route. The Gare de Reims is a magnificent structure which is typical of French train stations. It has a small convenience store where I would usually get breakfast before I set for for another place. There is also a square and a large park outside the station. This gives the area a pleasant feeling to be in.
