Ireland seems to be a popular place for film makers to film at. There have been quite a few, as probably most notably Star Wars flimed not once but twice here in separate places. I would agree that Ireland has quite a lot of offer as far as film locations are concerned. Now, I find out that Disney is once again filming in Ireland this time for the movie Disenchanted. The film location is the village of Enniskerry in county Wicklow. I know that county Wicklow is a beautiful place and I would like to see it properly but this is not the time to do it. I am here with friends and I would just be tagging along.
Enniskerry is a pretty village, but it is also small. There is effectively only one street to see here. At the moment, the film crew were trying to switch sets for another round of filming. Add the hundreds of tourists who have descended down unto the village to see the set and you have a big mess. There were a lot of people here and it was difficult to move around. The houses were still decorated but they were also being torn down as part of the flim set change. If you look closely, it was still hard to tell what has always been there and what is part of the movie set. I think one of the most convincing one I saw is the village pub. It has this medieval look to it and it was difficult to tell if it was real or not. It’s not. If you knock on the stone walls, you can tell it is hollow. Somehow fascinating things like this get missed because we are in the age of computer generated imagery. It would be shame if skills like these would disappear in favor of their computerized counterparts.
