As far as I am concerned, today has been a total washout. Of course, I was speaking metaphorically, because there was no rain today only the very thick and persistent fog and obscures the view from some of West Cork’s most beautiful places. Sheep’s Head is one of these places and it is similarly obscured by the thick fog. There is obviously very little I can do about this. I came here in the hope that it would be different but it wasn’t the case. Curiously, the wind is also quite strong here. I would have thought that the winds would have blew away the fog but I was wrong. There is a walking part from the car park to further down the peninsula. I believe there is a lighthouse somewhere there but I can’t see it.
I think it would not be a great idea for me to walk to the lighthouse. It is not that far but were something to happen to me, no one would see or hear from me. There are several walking paths here at Sheep’s Head. There is an epic one which goes for eighty kilometers too. From the car park, noticed that there is a trail that goes up the hill behind me. I was a bit curious about this and I decided to follow it. I know I said it might be dangerous to go alone in such weather but I think curiosity got the better of me. The trail was good enough. There were a few muddy parts and some parts you have to go through a fence obviously meant to keep out animals. There is a lookout spot here which was used back in the war but it seemed to be too far for me to visit in that kind of weather. Already my mind was going crazy imagining creatures coming out of the fog and running after me.
