Mizen Peninsula seems to be a treasure trove of interesting sights to visit. I had the misfortune of coming when the weather wasn’t so good but I still continued with the trip. Perhaps, the next time I visit, the weather would be better. Anyone living in Ireland would know the name Mizen. It is usually associated with being the southernmost point of Ireland. I guess you can consider me one of those people who try to visit such extremes. Mizen Head is another headland which is at the southern end of the island. If it is anything like the other headlands that I have seen, I think Mizen Head would also be a spectacular place to visit.
This is where the road ends. There is a marker for Mizen Head but it almost feels anticlimactic to be here. Being higher up the mountain, the fog is much thicker and it is almost impossible to see what is on the opposite side of the headland. I’m sure it would have been nice but it is just impossible to see right now. Additionally, I thought that Mizen Head is the southernmost point of Ireland, and a lot of Irish people would say that too. It isn’t. That honor actually belongs to nearby Brow Head. I didn’t get to go to Brow Head, nor did I even know about it until I got back. It was a shame that I didn’t realize this when I got the chance. Maybe it will give me another reason to come back here.
