I traveled from the village of Kenmare in county Kerry to the village of Schull in the Mizen Peninsula. I purposely left out this peninsula for today because there was too much to cover in one day. I don’t think it would be right to just stop and take photos and drive away. So it would be better to dedicate an entire day to this area. The village of Schull is the largest village on the Mizen Peninsula. It is also said to be one of the prettiest. As if it was a sign, the visit got off to a bad start. There seem to be some sort of spill on the way to the village that it turned the roads white as if it was snow or ice.
As if adding more insult to injury, there was a low sea fog that was around the area. It made it impossible to see the horizon. Looking out to sea, it almost seems creepy how you can’t see much of the sea. I can see that there are boats and ships on the water. It was almost like there was an eerie calm here. I happened to speak with a local there and I was told that this happens once in a while, but she said that Schull is a great place to live. It is shame that I can’t appreciate it more owing to the weather. I can see that the water here it very clear and I am sure that it will look good when the skies are clear.
