The day started bad. There was persistent rain that morning and I didn’t show any sign of stopping. Much as I would like to just stay in bed and sleep, I was on vacation and I still want to go to see the sights. Who knew that going on vacation would be so much work. Visibility wasn’t that great from the Druid’s View so I wasn’t under any illusion that it would be any better else where. I would be first exploring the Mizen Peninsula. This part of Ireland has quite a few peninsulas. Though Mizen Peninsula isn’t one of the largest ones, it is probably one of the most visited ones.
From the village of Kenmare where I was based, I would be making my way to the Mizen Peninsula. This is where I realized that choosing Kenmare was a mistake because I would need to cross a mountain range to return to Cork. I have already crossed it once so I think some of the unease is gone. However, it was still raining and visibility isn’t very good. Fortunately, the main roads where were very good and well signposted, so it was easy enough to figure out where to go. Along the way, there seemed to be some kind of chemical spill. The roads were white from whatever was spilled. The rain and vehicles have spread the stuff around that it almost looks like the roads are covered with snow or ice. I didn’t see any accident along the way, which meant that there won’t be any traffic.
