I came here to the island of Inishbeg because it is marked as a point of interest along the West Cork Coastal route. It is also part of the Wild Atlantic Way. However, from my visit, I was left scratching my head as to why anyone would want to go here. Sure there are self catering holiday homes here but nothing really worth noting here. Surely not of the same stature as the other points along the Wild Atlantic Way. I noticed that there is a photo on the website and it seems to be some kind of lookout point. I was determined to find this place.
I almost regretting looking for it. The place was at another end of the island and it can be access by a narrow farm road. I was trying to figure out where I was going when not one, but two huge tractors were coming my way. Because it was so narrow and there two of them coming down, I had to be the one to reverse back down. Not easy when the road is so narrow. Fortunately, there was a farm gate where I could back into so I don’t have to reverse all the way down. The two tractors eventually made their way past and I continued on to the end of the road. There was no parking area here, there is only a bare field where you could probably park the car. I just parked it near another farm gate, hopefully I won’t be blocking anyone. There it was, there is a view of the rest of Inishbeg and the neighboring islands. It wasn’t anything special, but I was just relieved to have found the place.
