I had a grand time going around West Cork and enjoying the sights there. I have to limit the distance I travel since I still have to go back to the bed and breakfast to spend the night. The following day, I finally checked out and this time I can go much further. My destination would be the far west of Cork up on the border with county Kerry. The previous day, I spent the rest of the afternoon at Galley Head and I friendly local chatted me up. I was told that there is a well known stone circle not too far away from there. That piqued my interested and I decided that I would be visiting that the following day.
Today, I would be traveling straight to this stone circle before anything else. There would be too many side trips here and I wouldn’t be able to reach my destination at this rate. The way to the stone circle primarily follows the main highway until it doesn’t. At that point, it becomes a small road where sometimes it becomes only wide enough for one vehicle to pass. It does feel remote and off the beaten track. There is parking when I get there and there were a handful of cars there. It seems that locals would come here for their walks while the odd tourist like me would be coming here from far away.
