It seems that I would get lucky for a change. The day started with a lot of clouds but but now, most have cleared and I now have clear skies. I hope this will persist for the rest of the day. So I made sure to make the most of it. I was generally following the West Cork Coastal Route which will naturally follow the coast. Unfortunately, the route isn’t well sign posted, I just hope that I hit most of the important places. It isn’t really that difficult to follow the coast since there is a major highway which makes it’s way around the coast. The road would naturally take more time to traverse compared to just heading straight to a location. I will have time tomorrow for that, but I will focus more on the coast here.
The Atlantic coast of Ireland is filled with numerous beaches, a lot of which never gain any fame outside the nearby towns or villages. It is just as well because when the weather is good, the people of Cork will go there in droves. I happened to run into one of these beaches called Molonye’s Strand. It is a lovely strip of beach which seems to be packed with beach goers. Unfortunately, parking here is a problem as people are forced to park along the road when visiting the beach. Additionally, roads here are narrow. If you park on the side of the road, you effectively already take up one lane. This is a nightmare for drivers who might run into a car coming the opposite direction.
