I was a bit delayed departing from the bed and breakfast only because I was constantly being offered food. Who was I to turn it down? I even got some scones to bring along for the drive. My first stop wasn’t that far from the bed and breakfast, in fact it is only five minutes away and it is easily reachable by walking. It would have been okay to walk if I was only going there but I still have other destinations in mind after it. Harborview Beach is the logical extension of the sandy river which runs past the bed and breakfast.
The Kilbrittain river runs past the bed and breakfast and through a bridge to reach the sea. You can see how heavily silted the river is. This will give you an idea of how the mouth of the river would actually be. The mouth of the river ends up at Harborview Beach. As you might expected there is a lot of silt deposited here which actually makes it great for walking as I can see from the viewpoint. It seems to be popular as well considering how it is relatively remote. Harborview Beach is a great example of a remote beach which somehow people still know about. I guess it helps that there West Cork Coastal Route passes through here.
