Much as I wanted to continue going around the town of Kinsale, there was little reason for me to stay there. I know that Kinsale is known for its restaurants, however, this was still the time of pandemic and indoor dining was still not allowed. I never planned on staying here anyway so it was just as well that I don’t linger here anymore. I meant how much better would one box of fish and chips be here compared to another place? Because of this, I intentionally didn’t pick accommodations within Kinsale. I found one which is further out around a 30 minute drive out of town – Bridgeview Farmhouse.
The Bridgeview Farmhouse is a bed and breakfast which is in the village of Kilbrittain. What is probably most notable about this area is that it seems to be in an estuary and seems to be quite a few walking opportunities here. True to its name, the bed and breakfast is within view of the stone bridge which crosses the estuary. There final approach to the place is actually rough road so you need to be careful when driving. There is no public transportation here so you need to make sure you have your own car. Once you get here, you will be welcomed by the warmest host you can ever have – Marion Maloney.
I was told that I was the first guest she’s had in a year so she was understandably excited to have me. As if to compensate for all those days of no guests, I was constantly fed during my stay. I didn’t mind that, this is actually the reason why I prefer staying at bed and breakfasts rather than hotels. I was given a very spacious bedroom with an excellent view of the nearby bridge. I can’t think of any other place I have stayed in where I got such a lovely view. Add the fact that it was sunny now and I got myself a great place to stay. Bridgeview Farmhouse would serve as my base for the next couple of days and I was very glad that I chose to stay here.
