Although Kinsale is no longer the great maritime center it once was, it still has a lot of visitor especially from the nearby big city of Cork. As with any great center, there were a lot structures that were built here over time. Fortunately, a lot of these structures were preserved. I like how people are aware of their local history and make sure these places are preserved for generations to come. One of the major structures still present today is the Saint Multose Church of Ireland. This is probably one of the most prominent structures in the old town center so it certainly is worth a visit.

The origins of the church date back from the year 1190. It is dedicated to Saint Multose who is said to have founded a monastery here in Kinsale in the 500s. Naturally, no structure that old would have last that long without any renovations and this one isn’t that any different. Amazingly, the bell tower itself, the tallest feature of the church is one of the original features, of course with some additional stuff added but it is it amazing to hear that it is still there are all this time. The church is actually still in active use and it looks very well maintained. This goes to show how far some regular maintenance would go.
