It feels like it has been forever since I last had a vacation. In these times of pandemic and lockdowns, I would only be working from home and going out for a drive when the weather is good. Because hospitality was still restricted I can’t stay at hotel or bed and breakfasts. The recent weeks have seen the loosening of restrictions for the entire country once it was clear that the number of infections were going down. While the decrease has been very slow, it is really there so the government decided to open up the hospitality sector as well. This finally gave me the opportunity I have been waiting for. I decided to take a staycation in the country.
I don’t be staying in county Donegal this time, I wanted to go somewhere far. That place turned out to be county Cork, which is in the opposite end of the the island. While it wasn’t the first time I would be visiting Cork, it would be the first time I would be able to spend some time to have a better look at the county rather than passing through it. Cork is a very large county so I thought it would be better to just focus on West Cork. West Cork is still part of the Wild Atlantic Way and you can say it ends or starts there. My first destination is the town of Kinsale. I was told about this place before but I didn’t have time to visit back then. I knew it was known for its eating places but with restaurants and bars closed I don’t think I would be able to eat properly this trip.
