Beach at Tranarossan

I was disappointed twice in my attempt to visit the famed Murder Hole Beach. This beach somehow gained fame during the pandemic through Instagram. While I was no Instagram user myself, I thought to go visit it only to find out that the landowner has closed off the easiest, albeit private, access to the beach itself. The only other way is to cross the headland that borders the coveted beach. This means to go back to Tranarossan Beach and hiking across the headland to get there. Unfortunately, the last part of the hike was pretty risky and it would require some climbing. If I fell here, no one would know what happened to me. Prudence is the better part of valor, so I decided to just head back.

The beach here at Tranarossan is actually nice. It seems to be a very secluded one. When I was there, there were only a handful of people there. Perhaps it was because I was there in the morning so most people weren’t out yet. But I thought this was a nice option to the nearby Downings which can get very crowded on certain days. I would have to note that the water here is rougher than the one at Downings since this area is much more exposed to the open sea compared to Downings. This probably explains the popularity of Downings. What’s more, there are no nearby facilities here either so make sure you bring everything you need when you come here to holiday.
