With travel restrictions in place as of this writing, I won’t be able to get out of the county. Fortunately, county Donegal has a lot places to see. Even if I don’t have a particular place in mind, I just enjoy driving around and just checking things out. One convenient route I take it the one from Dunfanaghy where I would take the N56. The road is good here and it follows the northwestern coast of the county. It is actually still part of the Wild Atlantic Way tourist route, so there would surely be something interesting to see here. I eventually ended up at the village Magheraroarty.
The name is very familiar to me when I remember that this where one can take a ferry to the island of Tory not too far away from here. I will not be taking the ferry today but just going around the area. The main feature of the village is the beach here. In fact, from the view point from the top you can see how large the beaches here are. It seems that there was a lot of sand that got deposited here and it formed this beach. Some of the sand has obviously already been here for a while because there is already grass growing on top of it. The beach itself seems to be quite popular with the locals as evidenced by the numerous camper vans here.
