I was very surprised to see how fast the tide was actually creeping up at the beach in Bunbeg. I know it happens twice a day but I never realized how fast it can happen. I happened to see this first hand at Magheraclogher Beach. When I saw how fast the tide was coming in, I realized that I won’t have a lot of time to explore some parts of the beach. I would have to go around the beach if I were to access other parts of the area. I walked across the beach to there northern end of the beach which leads to a trail for further exploration.
It slightly elevated so it is in no danger of getting flooded by the tide. It also happens to give visitors a good view of the beach. Looking here, you can see how wide this beach is. No wonder there are hotels around here because the area looks so nice. There are actually other smaller beaches here, but there are prominent signs which warn people not to swim because of the strong currents in this area. Looking at the water here, it looks like the water become deep rather drastically. It is a shame that it is not advisable to swim here since the beach and the water are so attractive. Then again, you wouldn’t want to end up like a nearby shipwreck either.
