On a visit to the village of Bunbeg, I realized that I haven’t seen the most well known part of the village. The previous time I was here, I visited the port and I thought that wasn’t very interesting. In my second visit, I ended up at the beach area thanks to a sign which I saw. I doesn’t seem to be at the center of Bunbeg itself but on an outlying village named Magheraclogher. I was immediately attracted to the beach because of the lovely colors from afar. There is also a well known shipwreck here named Bád Eddie or Eddie’s Boat which has been here since the 1970s. I think I can see why it wrecked because the water here can be quite shallow. However, the waters here are deemed not safe for swimming.
When I got here, I immediately want to Bád Eddie to take photos. I could get close enough to touch the boat, however as time went on, I noticed that the water is coming in, really fast. Of course, it is not like there is tsunami here, but if you look at the water line here, you can actually see it creep up in real time. I was shocked to see how fast the water was rising here. I imagine that this is due to the topography of the land. Maybe it is a little too flat that just a small increase in the tide and you would have a flooded beach in no time. Sure enough, within thirty minutes the beach was almost filled up with water. I think this may be one of the reasons why the water is not safe for swimming, it is because the tide rises quickly here and I would imagine that it would be easy to get stranded on one end here.
