I was glad to finally arrive at Inch Castle. To get here, one needs to follow the trail from the car park to the beach. Keep walking along the beach until you reach the castle. While is it not the most difficult hike I have done, some parts may be a little slippery so best to watch where you go. The castle itself is in ruins now. It was built in 1430 by the O’Donnell clan and forms part a of a defensive network in the area. As you can tell, this is not much of a tourist area so you need to approach with caution. There is a rough path at the foot of the castle to let you access it. Bear in mind that it can be a little steep so watch out.
While the castle is already in ruins, there are still parts of it still standing, though it can be a little difficult to know what these places were used for. The place seems to be safe enough for independent exploration just watch your head as some paths may have only a little headroom. What I thought was a chimney, turned out to have a flight of stairs, it is probably the tallest structure in the entire place. There is a smattering of portals here to let you appreciate the beauty of the Lough Swilly or watch out for enemies. I wish there was a little more literature here so I can understand what I was seeing.
