I first dropped by the Muckross Head Viewpoint. As the name implies, this is where you can see Muckross Head in its entirety. From here, I can already see that the coast of Muckross Head would be very interesting. If the general coast scenery of this area is any indication, I think I would be in for a treat. I have gotten used to the narrow roads here in rural Donegal, but still nothing would shock you into attention than another vehicle careening towards your direction in a one way road. Parking here isn’t that plentiful and some might even need to park on the grass.
There are two paths to take here. You can take the path on the left which would bring you on top of the cliffs. The other one is very near the car park takes you down near the waters. Both give you equally amazing experiences. I first went left only because I didn’t know any better. Much of the land here is uplifted sand and mudstone but unlike other places in the area, this one is uplifted horizontally. This provides visitors a much flatter platform to explore the cliffs. While there might be some clambering to be done in some places, it is generally easy to navigate.
