The village of An Port was a long way from civilization as far I am concerned. There were only a handful of houses in the area. Apart from farmers, I don’t see why people would be living here. I know that the scenery here can be a draw, however, the difficulty of getting here makes it less likely for people to settle here. There a few bigger villages in the vicinity, the largest would be probably be Glencolumcille. Most of the signs I would see here are towards the directions of Glencolumcille. After visiting An Port, I decided to continue down south where the national highyway is. This would make it easier for me to get back home.
Not to my surprise, there were still a few sights along the way. I decided to take the scenic route. This would to the southern coast of Donegal. Although this area is much more urbanized compared to An Port, there roads here are still narrow and at times they would even be just one way. What I have learned to do driving here is to just take it easy. There is no real rush to go anywhere. Because of these lack of urgency, I happened to chance upon Portacowley Beach. This is a small beach on the southern coast of Donegal. It was almost like a private beach with probably just the local residents coming here to play. The sand here seems to be plentiful and having it so accessible makes me so jealous.
