I was happy with my visit to the Kilclooney Dolmen. It feels as if I discovered something that most people don’t know about. What is nice is that the Kilclooney Dolmen is also along the way to other places of interest. When I spoke with a family who happened to visit at the same time as I did, I was told to continue down the road to Maghera Beach. I have been to that area before and I knew how picturesque the way to the beach is, so wanted to pay it a visit. The turnoff to the village of Maghera is just outside Adara. What’s more the sign is in Irish, so just pay attention to this sign. Additionally, the roads here can be very narrow so it is not for the faint of heart.
The way to Maghera actually traces the edges of an estuary that winds its way out to the ocean. I thinks this is another one of those heavily silted places which are very sandy when it the tide is low. Already, I can see signs of how much silt there is here. I think it is interesting to see various stages of this place but I think for the purposes of my photography, I would prefer that it have a little more water in it. There are multiple stopping points long the way so I can take my time to take photos of the estuary.
