I was pleased with my visit to Saint John’s Point. The day started overcast but the sun has been showing more frequently now, giving more illumination to this place. I was surprised to see that there are cliffs here. I was expecting it to be just a rocky beach much like the McSwyne’s Castle is but it actually much better than that. The cliffs here are a nice place to walk along. It is nice and flat enough that it is easy to get around here. Some of the cliffs just drop into the sea, making for an impressive landscape. There is also the lighthouse which is right by the car park.
Like all lighthouses here in Ireland, the one at Saint John’s Lighthouse is also off limits to visitors. However, this ones seems to be a bit more accessible. There is a still a wall which surrounds the lighthouse compound which is also a brilliant white like the lighthouse. I had to use my telephoto lens to get closer to the lighthouse but it was still difficult to see the actual light. I would be cool to see the lighthouse in action but I think it would be very dark here and I don’t want to be here at night.
