The first time I tried going to Saint John’s Point in county Donegal, the weather was bad by the time I got there. I had to try another time, and this time, the weather is much better, it wasn’t sunny weather but it still beats almost about to rain weather. I haven’t been to this part of Donegal before so I was quite surprised to see how rugged the coast is. I think I should have expected this anyway, since this area is exposed to the Atlantic and it would have carved out some amazing seascapes. I noticed that this place seems to be popular for scuba diving lessons. I was wondering if it was really such a good idea to do it here since the coast seems so rugged.
I didn’t come here for scuba lessons but rather for the scenery. I didn’t realize that Saint John’s Point has the same wild scenery that I have come to expect from Donegal coasts. From the beach area, I continued on to the right where the land would slowly rise above sea level. This wasn’t a mountain by any means but the further away I got, it seems that the water was much further down. At this point, there will be parts where the land has fallen into the sea creating cliffs. Looking back at where I come from, I can see the lighthouse in its entirety. The white walls of the lighthouse as well as the walls of the perimeter clearly highlight the presence of the lighthouse. What’s more, the walls of the lighthouse undulate along with the contour of the land.
