In these times of lockdown, I take full advantage of any time travel restrictions are eased. I am not so irresponsible as to gather in large groups for parties but traveling to remote places is something I like to do by myself. Inishowen has a lot of hidden gems that I haven’t visited. So I like to just drive around and have a look around. Fortunately, a lot of these places are well signposted so I just need to find a brown sign which I haven’t seen before then I just follow. One of the places which I ended up in is somewhat near Malin Head. The area around Malin Head is very beautiful as there is a shallow inlet which makes for interesting scenery. On my way to see a castle nearby I happened to see a spot where you can appreciate the inlet. This is Ballindavoe.
Ballindavoe is a small village I found on the way to a small castle nearby. It has a great view of the sandy inlet which is nearby. From here, you can see how complex this area is. Apparently, because of the local topography, the waters here can flow both ways. This causes havoc with the fishing industry which explains where people here don’t fish. However, it makes for lovely scenery. You can see people walking on the beach here but I wonder how safe it actually is here. The waters here are probably shallow as well, which might mean that the water can come in very quickly as well.
