There is a nice little gallery here at Fort Dunree which is separate from the main museum of Fort Dunree. I entered the place primarily because the wind was strong outside and I was just hiding from it. It glad that it turned out to be quite interesting. There were paintings on display here, some of them even had price tags on them. I supposed there were made by local artists. There is also a section which exhibits the local wildlife found in Inishowen which I thought was quite interesting. Of course, no gallery or museum at Fort Dunree would be complete without one about the military.
I haven’t been inside the main museum at Fort Dunree but here at the Saldanha Suites there is also a section for the military aspect of Fort Dunree. There are examples of military uniforms on display here. There are also numerous memorabilia from various events which involved people from Inishowen. I am not really keen on these kinds of things and I didn’t really linger here. I understand that there is much to be grateful to the people in uniform who fought to defend the country but this is just not my kind of thing.
