What I thought used to be a cafe has now turned into a museum or gallery. The Saldanha suite is one of the structures here at Fort Dunree and it gives more focus on the local aspects of this place. One part of the exhibitions here showcases the wildlife of Inishowen. I immediately noticed the presence of several types of stuffed birds here. I’m not an expert on birds but I thought these birds were magnificent. I know it is very hard to see these birds what with them flying all around. Perhaps the most recognizable bird for me here is the seagull, which are plentiful here.
What surprised me was that they have peregrine falcon here which from my recollection one of the fastest birds around, especially when they dive from high up. There is a stuffed eagle here, but I don’t know what kind of eagle it is. I thought it was interesting to see this exhibit at least I get to see these (dead) creatures up close. Until now, I didn’t even know how large they were. This is not a massive exhibit by any means but it is a nice break from all the military themed exhibit out here.
