The first time I visited Fort Dunree, I got to see the fort, and the guns which are mounted near the fort. For the longest time, I thought that I was all you could see there. I revisited Fort Dunree, this time, I know more and control my own time, so I decided to explore the rest of Fort Dunree. I remember there were structures not too far from the fort itself, one of them was a museum and the others appear to be the remains of barracks. What I didn’t know was that there was more to see here apart from the fort and it’s immediate surroundings. When I went to visit the remains of the barracks, I discovered that there was a whole trail to follow here.
There are a few trails to follow here, there is one to follow below, possibly closer to the water and another one to follow up the mountain. I decided to go to the mountain hoping that the view would be good. The main challenge is the flight of stairs you need to ascend to get to the main mountain trail. Because of lockdown, I didn’t get much exercise and I was very out of shape. It wasn’t long that I was already huffing and puffing my way up the stairs. Fortunately, it wasn’t that high unlike other stairs where I have to climb for one and a half hour. Already, my efforts have started to pay off, as I ascend the stairs I can see the scenery unfold before me. You can clearly see the fort below as well as the old barracks.
