I tried exploring the island of Inch, which is an island on the lough Swilly. I couldn’t manage to find the Inch Castle. I was hoping that there was a path to the the castle but I just could’t find it. Inch Beach was an okay beach with locals coming here to swim. As for me, I was merely driving around and I ended up turning around as I couldn’t find any other road out. I eventually ended up at the main church of Inch Island – Lour Lady of Lourdes Church. The population of Inch island is quite small so they don’t really need a very large church. This one seems to be the perfect size for this island.
Our Lady of Lourdes Church was built fairly recently in 1932. It is a Catholic church dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. The church itself appears to be very well maintained. There are also gravestones outside the church grounds as is common here in the country. I always found it strange to see how the doors of the church are laid out here. Instead of a main door, there is a small entrance at what appears to be the back of the church, it could be the front but it is hard to tell. I am not sure of the reason why a lot of church are built this way. I wonder if the weather here has anything to do with it. I left the car at the parking lot and went in the church.
