Secret Waterfall Chamber

Walking Towards the Hidden Waterfall

Walking Towards the Hidden Waterfall

My first reaction when I was entering the chamber of the secret waterfall was that it looks much like a cave. Indeed a lot of caves are formed by the constant batter of the sea on exposed rock. However, the rocks in this part of the county are the type which is formed by layers of sandstone and mudstone. When the rocks here were carved away by the sea, it fell in shapes consistent with the layers. This left an entrance which looks almost artificial in appearance. The entrance looked almost like a doorway which was carved out of rock. You do not hit the waterfall straightwaway though.

The waterfall is further in the chamber. This time part of the roof of the cave collapsed to reveal the sky and at the same time form the waterfall. It is an amazing sequence of events to think that it is all natural. The light at the end of the chamber illuminates part of the cave, now tunnel revealing the moss and plants are growing here. This makes it feel like it is some sort of gateway to the land of fairies. At the time of my visit, the waterfall hasn’t gotten that much attention yet. So I pretty much had the place all to myself. However, that wasn’t the only reason why I was the only one there, it was late afternoon and it was already way past low tide, that means that the tide was already coming in. I can’t imagine to think how terrifying it would be to get stuck here because you were trapped by the tide. I can’t really tell how high the water goes here. It is probably something I do not want to find out.
