We just got out of the first pandemic lockdown in Ireland due to the raging pandemic and I was aching for some travel. International travel is pretty much out of the question but so is inter-county travel. So, for the moment, I would have to be content with just going around county Donegal, which I all things considered, isn’t that that bad a place to be stuck in. I have been to a lot of places in county Donegal so I was surprised to hear about this secret waterfall that people have been talking about. Obviously, it is not so secret anymore since I have heard about it but at the time it isn’t very well known.
I decided to pay this place a visit. I heard that you need to make sure you you time your visit to when the tide is low else you might have some difficultly accessing the waterfall. It sounds like one of those adventure type visits that I might not that capable of doing. Anyway, there is parking along the highway and you need to make your way back and through a gate to get down to the beach. It wasn’t that bad of a day, it was not sunny but at least it wasn’t raining. Then again, I know that waterfalls tend to be more impressive when there was recent rain. Going down to the beach would take around ten minutes, but in the meantime you can admire the unfolding seascape before you. It seems that I haven’t hiked in ages because by the time I got down to the beach, I was already huffing and puffing.
