Lily of Killarney on Lough Leane

The O’Donoghues picked a very good spot to build the Ross Castle. It sits on a very picturesque location here in Lough Leane. From the lake shores, you walk right up to the water and gaze at the mountains in the distance. It was still the tail end of winter and there was still snow on top of the mountains further enhancing the beauty of the place. Doesn’t it make you wish that you could take a boat and just explore Lough Leane? In fact, you can, there is a small jetty here what a boat attached to it. This is the Lily of Killarney, it is a tourist boat which brings visitors around the lake.

Walking to the Lily of Killarney

The Lily of Killarney is a closed type of boat, but it has clear windows on both sides of the boat to allow visitors to appreciate the beautiful scenery. I must admit that it is quite nice to be lazily going around the lake and admiring the scenery. However, since it was winter, it doesn’t seem that the boat was in operation. I could also be that I was there too early in the day that it doesn’t start until later. Then again, I don’t mind just hanging around here by the lake and admiring the beautiful scenery.
