I found myself traveling on the Skellig Ring in Kerry. You can think of the Skelling Ring as a sub ring of the most well known Ring of Kerry. In fact, travelers on the Ring of Kerry can include this ring as part of their driving. For me, it is like another one of those detours which lead to beautiful places. The Skellig Ring doesn’t disappoint either. While I wanted to see Kerry’s Most Spectacular Cliffs, it was unfortunately closed probably because of the weather. But that isn’t all you can see here. Not too far from the cliffs is what is called Coomanaspic Pass.
I wasn’t aware of this place as I was just following the Skellig Ring driving route but I found myself driving up a mountain road and the scenery was stunning. Coomanaspic Pass is at the end of this part of the road. There is a stopping area where you can take photos. You can see the vastness of this area where you can see the ocean, mountains and the valley below. I was happy they made a road here seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The road seems to continue on which leads to a telecom tower. The other part of the road appears to go down the mountain, that is probably where I would be going.
