I was quite disappointed at not being able to see “Kerry’s Most Spectacular Cliffs” because the access to it is closed. I had not choice but to continue on. Fortunately, there is a lot more to see here. I was surprised to see that there is another driving route here which is named the Skellig Ring. This is a much smaller route which just goes around the area near Portmagee. It turns out that I was already on the Skellig Ring so all I needed to do it follow the signs. From the cliffs, I just kept on driving until the road started to climb up rather steeply.
The road up here it rather narrow as it only can handle one vehicle. There are a few pull over areas which allow people to pass. So, it would be best to be aware of these spots so you don’t get trapped and forced to reverse when someone is coming up and you already passed the last overtaking spot. There would also be stopping areas for photos. I expected this since the landscape was getting more and more spectacular as the road climbs up. There was even a grotto here marking the spot of Coomanaspic Pass.
