I was surprised as to how lovely the day turned out to be in Sneem. It was the tail end of winter so it was still quite chilly but at least I get to enjoy the clear weather all by myself. It didn’t start out that well that day but it got better as it went on. Even the wintry weather I ran into at the Gap of Dunloe eventually gave way to clear skies – that’s four seasons in one day for you. Sneem is a quite little village that is along the famed Ring of Kerry driving route. I didn’t know what is there to see here since I only know about the river and the bridge in the center of town.

Unsurprisingly, most of the interesting landmarks in Sneem are along the main street of the village. One of them is the Church of the Transfiguration. It is hard to miss the Church of the Transfiguration here because the church is painted all white. It is also slightly elevated so it is somewhat more prominent. The church itself seems to be tiny, since the village of Sneem itself is quite small. However, it is surprisingly old, the first church being build in the year 1790. It was renovated in 1967 and it is now a managed by the Church of Ireland.
