Despite the weather, I was quite happy with my visit to the Gap of Dunloe. While I never intended to visit the gap that specific time, I somehow found myself there and I was soon taking photos of the beautiful natural scenery. While the weather was quite a dampener, there was enough clear weather to keep mr happy. I guess, if you can see that the weather is changing so fast, make sure you after quick to take any photos you see. On the flip side, you also learn to be patient to wait for better weather since it changes so fast anyway.
From the gap, it was all downhill to the valley below. I ended up a small village area which has a lot of vehicles. I thought that it was because there is a nice place to eat here but it is actually more because it is a the starting point of the hike to the Gap of Dunloe. As I mentioned, I happened to go through the gap in reserve order. I should have gone here first before heading to the gap. Oh well, I would still stop here anyway since I was already hungry. There really happens to be a place where people stop and eat – Kate Kearney’s Cottage.
It seemed to have just opened for lunch so there weren’t too many patrons here. That soon changed as soon as I got in, pretty soon the place filled up. I got myself a plate of roasted duck. I thought it tasted a bit dry but I guess it is okay. Ducks tend to be very oily but somehow this one wasn’t, for which I am grateful for. It has a bar here as well and I can imagine it is popular with tourists since it is such as major landmark here.
