I was a quite disappointed with Moll’s Gap since it had that big name on the road but there wasn’t really much to see here. I would like to think that I just wasn’t able to find the place but this not a place like Morocco where important places would be hidden in plain sight. I wasn’t sure which way to go now. I saw a sign to an ominous sounding place called the Black Valley. I was hoping it wouldn’t be another one of those uninteresting places but I followed the sign anyway. I passed by a small body of water which turned out to be Lough Barfinnihy.
Lough Barfinnihy is a small lake which sits at the foot of a mountain. It seems that the waters of the lake are used as a reservoir and are thus protected. So you can’t swim or fish in it. You can take photos of it. There is a parking area not too far away from the lake and I stopped there for a while. It isn’t the idyllic lakeside scenery that I wished it would be. The lake itself doesn’t seem to be very accessible either, so I think it is best that I leave it alone. It was at this point that I start to see where I am heading, and where exactly is this Black Valley place.
