The Muckross House at Killarney National Park was closed so I wasn’t able to get in. It wasn’t clear why it was closed though, so I just ended up taking photos of the house from the outside. It was already late afternoon but the sun was still out, so I thought to go around the park. There are a number of trails here in the park, and I would love to try them. It doesn’t seem that they are very strenuous like having to climb mountains and all that. Much as I would like to try a trail, I don’t think there is time for that. I think I would need to spend more than a couple of days here in Killarney to do that.
I decided to walk around the lake. Lake Muckross is not that large but it is still quite substantial for a walk. I think I could only go around one part and head back. The lake shore here isn’t what I expected, it is much wilder and more natural than I expected. The water level seems to be quite high as a lot of the trees near the shore seem to be submerged. It was raining that afternoon and the ground was soaked. As I was walking along the shore I notice a structure by the shore. It looked like some kind of house. It wasn’t any house, it is actually a boathouse.
