The Portuguese City of Mazagan is one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal back when they controlled various parts of the world including Morocco. Mazagan, now named El Jadida, is a fortified city on the Atlantic coast. Its being a port city makes it easy for Portugal to access it since Portugal is relatively close by. The city is very compact and can be easily explored within a couple of hours. This gives me a lot of time to go around the place and do so at my own pace. I seldom have the time to take it easy during trips since I tend to pack a lot of places into a single day that I end up tiring myself out.
I found out that you can actually walk the walls of the city. There is a ramp which goes to the top of the walls near the water. Turns out that this part is actually quite a popular place for the locals. There are several people here taking photos or just hanging out. You can get a good view of the harbor here. I immediately noticed how calm the water is around here. There is a long breakwater further out and that prevents powerful waves from crashing into the port. This is probably standard practice so it would be easier for ships to get in.
