I was quite surprised to see that the city of Rabat has a couple of nice beaches. In hindsight, I should have expected this since the constant pounding of the Atlantic waves would have produced some nice beaches somewhere here since the city faces the Atlantic. True enough, there are a couple of these near the mouth of the Oued Bou Regreg. There seems to be a way to go down to the beach from the viewing deck. However, I don’t see people walking that way. I thought that it would have been natural to lead people down to the beach from here. I decided against that path and instead went back out the kasbah and start to make my way down.
I had a choice here, should I walk directly to the beaches or do I walk along the length of the coast here in Rabat. I decided on the latter since there seems to be a few interesting places along the way. I think I already got my nice photo from the top of the kasbah. I prefer photos of beaches taken from above. Whenever I take photos of the beach when I’m on it, they don’t turn out to be that interesting. What’s more, as I walk down along the main road, I get a great photo of the kasbah on the hill behind the beach. I actually thought that the kasbah was bounded by water on most sides but there is still some slope here. The greenery here also hosts a local cemetery.
